The Mission of SPARK
Supporting Parents and At Risk Kids (SPARK) is a non-profit organization designed to provide early identification, evaluation, and training resources for vulnerable infants, children, youth, and parents. SPARK embraces a mission to serve the Washington D.C. community by:
• igniting the potential of children and youth in jeopardy
• maximizing the impact of early intervention services
• expanding access to services for at-risk infants
• fostering ongoing engagement in young families
Services central to the accomplishment of these goals include:
• conducting developmental evaluations
• referring eligible families for appropriate interventions
• providing trainings for teen mothers and families with a focus on attachment, child rearing strategies, behavior management, health care and development, utilizing existing community resources , and promoting self-advocacy
• supporting achievements and responsibility in vulnerable youth through community recognition
